The Hawaiian Humane Society’s kennels have been overflowing with dogs since last October. The situation continues to worsen as the number of surrendered and stray animals increases. Additionally, it’s kitten season, with over 200 kittens currently receiving specialized care in foster homes. ??

According to the Hawaiian Humane Society, the high cost of housing and living in Hawaii makes it difficult for families to keep their pets. This is a universal issue but is exacerbated in Hawaii due to the high cost of living, as HHS spokeswoman Brandy Shimabukuro pointed out. ??
